The Bridge boards provide an interface between the PCI/CompactPCI bus and the StarFabric. The bridge translates parallel PCI traffic into serial frame format for transmission across StarFabric.
The Fabric interface consists of two 2.5 Gbps full duplex links. These links are comprised of four aggregated 622 Mbps LVDS differential pairs, which greatly simplifies implementation. The StarFabric bus is connected to the RJ45 jacks P600 (Link 0) and, if required, to P601 (Link 1), using two cat5 cables in each case. Please always use cable pairs of identical length. The cable for RX is connected to TX on the other end, and the cable from TX to RX on the opposite end.
It’s your choice: The two links can be bundled to create a 5 Gbps full duplex unit. Or if you prefer there is the capability of providing a redundant connection using the links two separate ports.
