8B33 True RMS input signal conditioners are designed for embedded applications to protect equipment in both the field and control room from power surges whilst reducing electrical noise in measured signals. Providing the very best specifications on the market in compact package, these 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioners isolate, filter and amplify a RMS voltage or current input signal and output a high-quality analog signal for data acquisition and control.

Dataforth’s 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioner provides a factory calibrated accuracy span of ±0.25%. Signal filtering on the 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioner provides 70dB of NMR (Normal-mode-rejection) at 60Hz. The field voltage or current input signal is processed through a pre-amplifier and RMS converter on the field side of the isolation barrier. This converted DC signal is then chopped by a proprietary chopper circuit and transferred across the transformer isolation barrier, suppressing transmission of common mode spikes and surges. The computer side circuitry reconstructs, filters, and converts the signal to an industry standard output of 0 to 5V DC. 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioners also guarantee a high-level of reliability and long term stability with field I/O being protected against continuous voltages up to 350Vrms, as defined by the ANSI/IEEE C37.90.1 transient protection specification. The 1500Vrms transformer isolation barrier eliminates ground loops, allows for operation at high common-mode input voltages and rejects large common-mode spikes, all of which contribute towards preserving signal integrity whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy and output noise.

A regulated supply of +5V DC is required to power an 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioner. Each 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioner typically consumes 0.15w or 30mA of power at +5V DC. A wide range 12-28V DC24V DC DIN power supply converter or 230V AC rack mount transformer is available to power an 8B signal conditioning system.

These 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioners have a wide operating temperature of -40°c to +85°c and have ATEX compliance pending. These signal conditioners are designed for installation in Class 1, Division 2 hazardous locations. Each 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioner goes through a 48-hour burn-in operation and is 100% tested twice with test results provided.

Single-channel, dual-channel, 8-channel and 16-channel back panels with panel or DIN rail mounting options are available for the 8B33 True RMS input signal conditioner.
